70 ships with a cumulative length of about 3 kilometers are berthed along 1930 meters of quay — no one is going to miss the fact that The Tall Ships Races have come to Halmstad. The ships will tie up along Tullkammarkajen, the Eastern Nissan quay (Östra Nissan-kajen) and in the wharf in the Eastern port basin (Östra hamnbassängen). On land big things are happening too! There, 360 000 square meters of the commercial port - an area equal to about 53 football fields - will be transformed into a gigantic festival area with five stages for live music and performances, a multitude of restaurants, loads of exhibits, special places for children and young people (Kids Area and Youth Area). Europe's largest mobile Ferris wheel will be set up here along with a piazza with chess and arts, skateboard ramps - and much, much more.
To the north, the Festival Area will start in “Picasso Park" in central Halmstad and stretch all the way down to the Eastern port which is the heart of the area.
From the very beginning it has been a clear desire that people with physical handicaps would feel welcome to The Tall Ships Races, and there is a detailed project plan to offer the greatest accessibility possible.
